Dog Missing After East Windsor Crash Reunited With Owner
Leo went scurrying into a wooded area after a Nov. 23 crash, but a pair of Eversource employees found him and reunited him with his owner.

EAST WINDSOR, CT — A potentially sad situation involving a motor vehicle accident and a lost dog was happily resolved thanks to a pair of alert Eversource employees, creating a truly happy Thanksgiving for the canine's family.
The story began the evening of Nov. 23 with a 2-vehicle crash on Route 5 in East Windsor. A dog named Leo was inside one of the involved vehicles and was ejected. His owner last saw him running into the woods near Cracker Barrel and a car wash.
During a frantic search for his pet, Leo's owner took to social media asking for help. "I need my boy back, he means everything to me." He later updated his post, stating Leo "was just spotted in Sofia's Plaza; if you see him, do not chase, just get on one knee and call his name."

The following morning, Will Kozikowski and Bob Root, a pair of gas mechanics from the nearby Eversource building on Route 140, spotted a black and white dog behind a fence, shivering in the cold. Kozikowski immediately ran around the fence, grabbed the dog and carried it inside to warm up.
The dog was wearing a red collar with a name tag - Leo. The men had no idea about the previous night's circumstances, but immediately took action.

"We called the number on the tag and I remember the owner being hysterical over the phone," Kozikowski said.
When the owner rushed into the building and saw his dog, he dropped to the ground crying, and said it was the best Thanksgiving ever to be reunited.
"It feels really good to have been able to help," Root said. "We were in the right place at the right time."
The owner updated his social media post:
"I wanna thank everyone who put the effort into helping me find my dog. He is safe and home, a little shook up from the accident but he is gonna be just fine!! You guys are amazing people, there was people I’ve never seen in my life, out there last night in the freezing cold looking for my boy and that just goes to show that there is still good people out in this world. And for all the people that shared my post, it blew my mind how many people came together to help with my dog and I can’t ever stop thanking you guys, so thank you again. I wanna thank Eversource and their amazing workers for knowing who he was and immediately grabbing him up and bringing him in the warm building."
