Driver, 9, Crashes Into Tree As Mother Sits In Passenger Seat: Police

Windsor Locks Police say a 9-year-old drove in a hazardous manner in the Motel 6 parking lot while the mother was the passenger.

A mother faces charges after Windsor Locks Police say she was a passenger in a car driven by her 9-year-old child that struck a tree at a Motel 6 parking lot.

Latonya Allen was recently arrested on a warrant for the incident that occurred over the summer.

Police responded to the Motel 6, located at 3 National Drive, on July 16 on a report that a 9-year-old child was driving a car in a hazardous manner while in the parking lot, with the mother as a passenger.

The child lost control and struck a tree, according to police. Management and customers intervened until police arrived.

Investigation led to an arrest warrant approval. Allen was taken into custody by the Hartford Police Department then returned to Windsor Locks to face charges of risk of injury.
