East Windsor Police Revive Heroin Overdose Victim

Officers were able to use Narcan to bring the victim back to consciousness.

EAST WINDSOR, CT — For the fifth time, a member of the East Windsor Police Department successfully utilized Narcan to revive a heroin overdose victim Monday night.

Around 7 p.m., officers responded to a residence on Scantic Road for a reported heroin overdose, and found an unresponsive male on the kitchen floor. The male had labored breathing and his face and hands had turned blue, indicating a lack of oxygen in the body, due to respiratory depression from opioids, police said.

An officer provided two doses of Narcan, a medicine that blocks the effects of opioids and reverses an overdose, to the male through his nostrils, and he regained consciousness before being transported to a local hospital, police said.
