On Saturday, Feb. 11 while conducting a business check Ofc. Ludemann found a vehicle parked at a gas station and the operator was slumped over the wheel with a needle in his arm, police said. The person was unresponsive and suffering from a heroin overdose and was transported to the hospital, police said.
"We continue to save lives with the Narcan antidote and encourage people to call 911 if they believe someone to be suffering a heroin overdose without fear of being arrested. In 2011, a “good Samaritan law” was passed in an attempt to address people’s unwillingness to call 911 for an overdose situation. This law protects people who call 911 seeking emergency medical services for an overdose from arrest for possession of drugs/paraphernalia. The law limits protection to this situation," police said on their Facebook page.
