East Windsor Residents Facing Slight Tax Increase

EAST WINDSOR, CT — Residents of East Windsor will face a slight increase in property taxes, as the Board of Finance approved a bump of 1.38 percent in the mill rate for the 2020-21 fiscal year.

The existing mill rate of 34.25 has been upped to 34.72 for the new fiscal year, which begins July 1. A mill is equal to $1 for every $1,000 of assessed property value.

Overall, the finance board approved a 2020-21 budget of $41,288,059 for the town, a 2.75 percent increase from 2019-20. The Board of Education receives the largest allotment annually, with $24.7 million earmarked for school and education expense, or 3.27 percent over the current fiscal year.

The general town fund budget is $14,565,526, up just under 2 percent from this year. Public safety was bumped up 4 percent to just over $4.17 million, while the general government line decreased slightly, to just over $5.24 million.
