Winter On Ice Event Is Postponed—Here’s The New Date
Town officials announced the event will now be held later this month for safety reasons.
EAST WINDSOR, CT — A winter-themed community event planned for this weekend in East Windsor has been postponed because of forecasted extreme cold, town officials announced.
The East Windsor Parks and Recreation Department said the “Winter on Ice: Cocoa & Community” event has been rescheduled to Sunday, Feb. 22, due to anticipated dangerously low temperatures. Officials said the decision was made out of caution to ensure the safety and comfort of families and participants.

The event was originally scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 7, at the East Windsor Community Center, 28 Abbe Road. It will still run from 1 to 3 p.m. on the new date and will keep the same format.
Organizers say Winter on Ice is designed as a family-friendly afternoon featuring winter crafts and hot cocoa, with skating planned if weather and ice conditions allow. Skating activities remain weather-dependent, and attendees are encouraged to dress for outdoor conditions.

The event also includes a charitable component. Participants are encouraged to bring new children’s unisex athletic pants and boys’ or girls’ underwear to support the Broad Brook School Clothing Closet, which provides clothing assistance to local students.
Registration is required and remains open online through the town’s recreation portal at eastwindsorct.myrec.com. Officials said previously completed registrations will carry over to the new date.
Parks and Recreation officials said they hope residents will be able to join the community celebration later this month once temperatures moderate.
