EAST WINDSOR, CT — Two East Windsor High School seniors were honored this year through a new scholarship recognizing the role art has played in their lives.

The East Windsor Arts and Culture Committee awarded its inaugural Arts and Culture Committee Scholarship to Jayla Fulk and Elizabeth Romel, both members of the East Windsor High School graduating class of 2026.

The committee was founded in 2021 to promote arts and culture in East Windsor, recognize local artists and strengthen community pride by highlighting cultural programs and creative work.

The new scholarship was created to honor a student who has shown personal or academic growth through the arts. The award recognizes students whose artistic discipline has helped shape their development and worldview, according to the committee.

Committee members said Fulk and Romel both use art as a form of self-expression and as a way to connect with the community.

The committee said it believes art will continue to be an important part of both students’ lives.
