I strongly believe that infrastructure is our most pressing challenge facing the town as evidenced by the need to resolve flooding issues, repair sidewalks, and update roadways. I will work with the Board of Selectmen, the Public Works Department, and the Town Planner to identify these areas and implement a plan to get the work completed in a timely manner. The development of a new Senior Citizen Center is long overdue and is a priority along with the construction of a Public Safety Complex that will accommodate the police force and the growing needs of our community. I will work with the Board of Selectmen and Board of Finance on these two initiatives.

Critical differences between me and my opponents:

I will listen to the needs of our residents, identify areas of improvement, and make sound decisions that will benefit the community. I will also encourage positive and healthy relationships between members of the Board of Selectmen, Commission members and Board members, and the town residents to insure that we can accomplish our mutually beneficial goals for the people of Windsor Locks.

Accomplishments:

Throughout my life, my priority has been to support and advocate for the needs of others, whether in the workplace or the community. Early in my career, I was a Shop Steward with the Teamster’s Union and advocated for job safety, improved working conditions, and resolved many issues brought forward by our workers. As an Operations professional in the transportation industry, I educated fellow team members on airline safety and security through the country in addition to insuring that our passengers had a positive experience. For many years, I was a volunteer on the WL Lions Club Ambulance as a Medical Response Technician and currently volunteer on two Patient Advisory Boards focused on Prostate Cancer Awareness. I co-founded the WL Men’s Softball League in the late 1970s and worked with town and members of the small business community which was critical to the success of the league. As a member of the Board of Selectmen, I am committed to listening to the needs our residents, providing a safe and welcoming community, and working together towards a common vision and goal.

Other issues:

In summary, the issues that I will focus on our infrastructure, the development and updating of the public safety complex, and the creation of a new Senior Center.

What else would you like voters to know about you?

I will encourage positive and healthy relationships between members of the Board of Selectmen, Commission members and Board members, and the town residents to insure that we can accomplish our mutually beneficial goals for the people of Windsor Locks.
