EAST WINDSOR, CT — Democrat Marie E. DeSousa, 67, is running for the East Windsor Board of Selectmen.

Occupation: Retired

Family:I have been married for 45 years and raised four children here. All currently have families of their own.

Experience: I currently am on the Board of Selectmen. i have held many positions over the past 35 years.

Family in government: no

The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:

Economic Growth is most pressing to me. The need to increase our tax base and provide new opportunities for our Community is necessary. To promote the enhancement of the RT5 and RT40 corridors with business development.

Critical differences between me and my opponents:

The Board of Selectmen race is uncontested this term. The current Board differences are age, technical abilities, and education and experience.

Accomplishments:

Having served on various boards and commissions over the years, I feel I have gained a solid working knowledge of the processes necessary to fill this position.

Other issues:

To continue to be open and Transparent

To continue to measure fiscal responsibility by comparing our needs for services against an equitable tax base.

I am willing to put in the time and effort needed to continue to evaluate issues in detail. It is important to me that any decision I make is with the proper understanding of the issue at hand and in the best interest of this Community I serve.
