Fire Destroys Detached Garage, But Misses House In East Windsor
Several fire companies worked to contain the blaze early Wednesday morning on Scantic Road.

EAST WINDSOR, CT — A fire destroyed a detached garage and pool house at a home on Scantic Road early Wednesday morning, but quick work by several fire companies prevented the blaze from spreading to the main house.
At 3:29 a.m., the Warehouse Point and Broad Brook fire departments were dispatched to a report of a structure fire. Engine 138 from the Stoughton Road fire station was quickly on scene, deployed hose lines and quickly knocked down the bulk of the fire, Chief James Barton said.
With the assistance of the Broad Brook and South Windsor fire departments, the fire was completely extinguished without any injuries. The Windsor Locks Fire Department provided coverage while companies were committed on scene, Barton said.

"Having the staff at the firehouse this morning really made a difference in the outcome of this fire," Barton said. "We were able to put water on the fire with the first 10 minutes of the dispatch time. It took approximately 20 minutes to put the fire under control."
The fire marshal's office is still investigating the cause of the fire.
