Fire in East Windsor Causes Heavy Damage, Serious Injury
A victim was transported to an area hospital following the Thursday evening blaze on Broad Brook Road.

EAST WINDSOR, CT — An early evening fire Thursday at a converted barn on Broad Brook Road caused considerable damage to the building and serious, possible life-threatening injuries to an occupant, Deputy Fire Chief Jim Bancroft said.
Just before 6 p.m., Broad Brook firefighters and mutual aid from Warehouse Point, South Windsor and Enfield were dispatched to 127 Broad Brook Road for a reported structure fire. The first arriving firefighter reported heavy fire showing from the rear side of a large barn-type structure, which is attached to a main residence and had been renovated into an apartment, Bancroft said.
Two occupants of the main residence met firefighters in front and said another person was unaccounted for and may be inside the building. Moments after entering, firefighters were able to locate a victim, who was removed from the scene and transported to St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, Bancroft said.

When asked by Patch if the removed victim had died, Bancroft responded, "As of this morning I cannot confirm as to if the individual who was removed by firefighters was a fatality, I can say he was in serious condition as of the time he was transported by East Windsor Ambulance."
The State Fire Marshal's Office is assisting the East Windsor Fire Marshal with the investigation at the scene.
