EAST WINDSOR-ELLINGTON-SOUTH WINDSOR-EAST HARTFORD, CT — Connecticut Legislature, we are not stupid. Just because we don’t protest as much as we ought to doesn’t mean we aren’t aware of your terrible fiscal behavior. You demean us when you offer us state handouts that we really know are just a way to buy our votes. Just because our awful state economic situation forces us to take your free money doesn’t mean we don’t see through what you’re really doing.

Everyone knows any surplus the state has is only because of federal money. It’s condescending to us as state residents for our leaders to act like they have good fiscal policy.

What a fresh ray of hope I found when I came across Matt Harper, candidate for State Senate. He says, “A healthy economy is the foundation to a prosperous community. As your State Senator I’ll work to foster economic development with creative solutions, collaborating with local officials to create job opportunities and reduce the cost-of-living, including an unbearable tax burden that hits low- and middle-income families particularly hard.”

Now that makes sense. Build the state’s economy the right way from the ground up, not through federal funding.
