Meet the New Editor of Windsor Locks-East Windsor Patch

Expansion at the media company has led to some shuffling of editorial assignments.

WINDSOR LOCKS-EAST WINDSOR, CT - The calendar has officially turned to spring (although it's only in New England that you can have 70-degree days in March and snowfall in April), and with the new season comes some exciting news from Patch Media.

Patch has recently launched some brand new sites in Connecticut, including Wethersfield, Newington and Hartford in the north central region of the state. That expansion, coupled with some personnel changes, has prompted a shift in some editorial assignments, which leads to my introduction as the new editor of Windsor Locks-East Windsor Patch, beginning Monday, April 4.

While I may be new to this particular site, I am no stranger to the area or to the business. I was the founding editor of Enfield Patch in 2010, and subsequently added Suffield Patch and Ellington-Somers Patch to my responsibilities before the company's previous owner, AOL, began cutting staff, leading to my layoff in Aug. 2013.

The new owners of Patch, Hale Global, brought me back into the fold in Aug. 2015, and I have managed 11 sites since that time. I eagerly look forward to working with you folks in Windsor Locks and East Windsor on news of interest to you.

Here are five facts that may give you some insight into my personality and passion for the media industry; some of them may actually be interesting:

  • I have two teenage children; my son is a high school junior, and my daughter is in eighth grade. Both play on scholastic teams, much like their dad did about a hundred pounds ago.
  • I am vice president of the Connecticut Sports Writers' Alliance, and chairman of the 75th Gold Key Dinner coming up on April 24; I also serve as vice chairman of the Enfield Athletic Hall of Fame, and as commissioner of Blitzkrieg Pro Wrestling.
  • For over 20 years, I have been a DJ, and have been a justice of the peace for more than 15 years; sometimes I get to combine the two.
  • My AARP card arrived in the mail not long ago.
  • Last, but certainly not least, I am a proud cancer survivor, in remission for nearly seven years. Lymphoma chewed away some of my left thigh bone, necessitating nearly a year of treatment including multiple surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation. I have a boatload of steel and bolts holding my leg together, but living with that sure beats the alternative.

As I said earlier, I look forward to working with all of you. I can be reached via email at tim.jensen@patch.com, or by phone at 860-394-5091. I also encourage you to register for free to become a site contributor, where you can post news about upcoming events directly onto the site.

Please let me know how I can be of assistance, and what you would like to see more or less of on Windsor Locks-East Windsor Patch.

-Tim Jensen
