New Clock Erected on Main and Elm Streets in Windsor Locks

The clock will be dedicated in the late Raymond Roncari's memory.

A dedication for a clock at Main and Elm streets in front of Walgreens will be held at 10 a.m. on September 25.

The clock was erected in memory of Raymond Roncari, the late president and owner of Roncari Express Valet Parking in Windsor Locks. Roncari died in 2006 at the age of 82. He was very active and prominent member of the community.

The clock was the work of a small group of people, Paul Smith said at Tuesday’s board of selectmen meeting.

Among those Smith named were Joe Calsetta, Debbie Roncari, people from Walgreens, the Roncari family, Mike Russo, Denise Balboni and John Seaha.

The clock face has Windsor Locks on top and Tempus Fugit, Latin for “time flies” on the bottom, Smith said.

“I’m sure Ray would be very happy,” Smith said.

Calsetta, general manager for Roncari Associates Inc., said the clock was made by Electric Time Company in Medfield, Mass. It is 14.5 feet tall, and the clock face is three feet in diameter.

The effort to organize, raise funds and get the clock made took five to six years, Calsetta said.

Raymond Roncari was a great man, Calsetta said Wednesday.

“He deserves to be recognized as a great guy,” Calsetta said.
