Visitors of all ages have the opportunity to put their creativity and problem solving skills to work at Engineering Design activities offered each day Monday through Sunday. Learn more about flight, aircraft design, and airplane control. Team up with friends and family to solve problems and come up with awesome results. Visitors have the chance to discover the Museum’s 80 aircraft and participate in a variety of activities such as build and fly a model, watch a flight science demonstration, hear from a storyteller, and sit in the cockpit of an aircraft. Check with the Museum for daily program details and schedule. Unless otherwise noted all programs are free with Museum admission. Programs and times are subject to change without notice. LEGO Group, NASA, and the New England Air Museum invite you to participate in the Imagine Our Future Beyond Earth Competition on July 19 anytime between 10:00 and 4:00.We will provide the LEGO pieces that entrants need to participate. Prizes will be awarded by the Museum for the age groups: 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, 13-15, and entrants 16 and over are encouraged to submit an image of their creations to the LEGO ReBrick website by July 31. Start your research today on the many missions NASA has planned to explore our universe and imagine the aircraft and vehicles that will be needed to accomplish these exciting goals. If you can imagine it, it is possible! Cost of participation is included with general admission to the Museum. The New England Air Museum invites the public to participate in a Helicopter 2050 Challenge on August 2 anytime between 10:00 to 4:00. This LEGO competition at the Museum asks you to build your own vision of the next great environmentally friendly helicopter. Museum educators will introduce the public to the basics of helicopter flight and the helicopters of the Museum’s collection before providing visitors the materials to design and build their own. The Museum will provide prizes to the top three entrees built out of LEGO pieces. During the duration of the summer, the Museum’s Flight Sim Spot will be open each day between 10:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Flight Sim Spot allows visitors to use state-of-the-art simulators to virtually fly any aircraft using real cockpit controls. The cost is $3 for a half hour flight or $5 for an hour flight. Museum Members fly free!
