Obituary: Elizabeth Maksymiw, 88, of Windsor Locks

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT - Elizabeth “Betty” (Colson) Maksymiw, 88, of Windsor Locks, beloved wife of the late Michael Maksymiw passed away Thursday, October 4, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. Born August 19, 1930 in Springfield, MA daughter of the late Robert and Meita (McEwan) Colson, she grew up in West Suffield before moving to Windsor Locks over 50 years ago. Elizabeth was an avid fan of UCONN Women’s Basketball, she loved going to the beach with family and friends, especially Dunes Beach in RI, she was a dare devil with cars, but her greatest joy came from raising her children and being a strong mother figure to many other children over the years. She is survived by her sons, Michael Maksymiw and his wife, Jill of Suffield, Todd Maksymiw and his wife, Carrie of West Suffield and her “3rd son” Clifford Colson and his wife, Lora of Windsor Locks; two sisters, Ruth Oltsch of West Suffield, Shirley Hinckley of Enfield; a brother, Robert “Red” Colson and his wife, Joan of Suffield; four grandchildren, Taylor, Michael, Jr., Kristen, Todd, Jr. She was predeceased by four siblings. Her family will receive friends Sunday, October 14, 2018 from 2-5 PM at Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St. N. (Rt. 159), Suffield. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 15, 2018, 11:00 AM at Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, Suffield. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Suffield.
