One Killed in Fatal East Windsor Fire
The blaze was reported in a mobile home park around 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

EAST WINDSOR, CT — A fire at a mobile home off Route 140 proved fatal to one person Sunday night, according to police.
The blaze was reported at 10:25 p.m. at Lata's Mobile Home Park at 9 North Road. It is unclear which of the 15 units in the park was consumed by the fire.
A police officer traveling west on North Road near Route 5 observed smoke coming from the mobile home park, located behind Sofia's Restaurant. The Warehouse Point and Broad Brook Fire Departments were called to the scene, police said.

Not knowing if anyone was inside, the officer attempted to gain entry to the mobile home by kicking the front door open, but was pushed back by heavy black smoke. Officers made numerous attempts to enter from various sides, but were unsuccessful as the mobile home was quickly engulfed in flames, police said.
Residents living in nearby mobile homes were successfully evacuated and were not harmed, police said.

The two fire departments quickly extinguished the blaze, and a search found the resident had perished in the fire. The identity of the individual is being withheld pending notification to the next of kin, according to police.
Two of the neighboring mobile homes were damaged, and residents are temporarily displaced pending investigation by the Warehouse Point Fire Department, the Connecticut Fire Marshal, the State's Attorney Office, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and the East Windsor Police Department.
Route 140 between Winkler Road and Route 5 intersection was closed while authorities launched an investigation, but has since re-opened.
