1. Welcome to the last Monday of the summer season, it will be sunny with a high temperature of 79 degrees, according to The Weather Channel. Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low temperature of 57 degrees.
2. On This Day in: 1787, the Constitution of the United States of America was signed by delegates at the Constitutional Convention; 1796, President George Washington's Farewell Address was read before Congress; 1920, the American Professional Football Association was formed in Canton, Ohio. It was the precursor to to the National Football League; 1953, Ernie Banks became the first black baseball player to wear a Chicago Cubs uniform. He retired in 1971 known as “Mr. Cub;” 1983, Carl Yastrzemski (Boston Red Sox) broke Hank Aaron's major league record for games played when he started his 3,299th game; and 1984, Reggie Jackson hit his 500th career home run. It was exactly 17 years from the day he hit his first major league home run.
3. The Windsor Locks Dollars for Scholars Mum Sale will be from 8 a.m to 3 p.m. Saturday in Dexter Plaza on Main Street.
4. The East Windsor Chamber of Commerce will be holding a mini trade show at its next business after hours from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. October 24. The event will benefit the East Windsor Education Foundation and will be held Baymont Inn and Suites.
Chamber members can buy a table/booth for $25 which will be donated to foundation, which provides grants to educational opportunities to East Windsor school system and beyond.
