Why I’m Running
Why are you seeking this office?
I’m running for re-election because our families are being squeezed-by taxes, unfunded mandates to the towns and schools and rising utility costs. For ten years I’ve fought to make CT more affordable. By fighting to fund our schools fairly and to protect our farmland from industrial solar. That work isn’t finished and neither am I.
Connecticut’s Top Issue
What do you believe is the No. 1 issue facing Connecticut, and how do you plan to address it?
Plain and simple, affordability. The answer on how I plan to address these problems really goes back to one of the previous questions. By not fully funding our schools and passing down unfunded mandates to our schools and towns we drive up local property taxes. I have fought for proper funding for our schools and no unfunded mandates.
Lowering Energy Costs
Energy costs have been soaring in Connecticut. What are your plans to help address this issue?
As a Republican last year we put forth several amendments and bills to remove the public benefit from your electric bills. The majority party voted against it every time. This would have saved you in your electric bill a significant amount of money. If I have the great honor to return to Hartford once again we will continue to fight to have this removed from your bills.

Making Connecticut More Affordable
Affordability has been a major topic across the country and here in Connecticut. How do you plan to address this issue?
Affordability has to be addressed right here in Ct., because that’s where families feel it- in property taxes. The majority party keeps passing mandates down to our towns without paying for them and our towns have no choice but to raise the mill rate or cut services that are sadly needed. I have fought that two ways . I introduced a constitutional amendment twice that would require a two thirds vote before any unfunded mandates can be imposed on our towns and I’ve pushed for full funding for special education because when the state shortchanges our schools our local tax payers make up the difference.
Experience And Accomplishments
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
Most recently I delivered a moratorium on industrial solar in Enfield and East Windsor, protecting our farmland and requiring a closer look at saturation levels of these massive solar utilities. Above I mentioned the constitutional amendments I have introduced. Put forth budgets that fully fund special education. I have fought to expand GPS monitoring of the most dangerous domestic violence offenders, supported amendments to remove the public benefit charge on your utility bills. Have voted against budgets that increase your mill rate locally.
What Else Voters Should Know
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I love serving the residents of the 59th district and I would humbly ask for your vote and continued support on November 3. Thank you for having the trust and faith in me over the last ten years I have served you in Hartford and 14 years on the Enfield Town Council.
