Picture East Windsor - Then And Now
An old photograph and brief story from East Windsor's past, and how that site appears today.

EAST WINDSOR, CT — Today's edition of this periodic informal history series, highlighting businesses from East Windsor's past and what those locations look like today, once again finds us inside the 1981 edition of the East Windsor High School yearbook, The Archive, at General Plasma Associates at 12 Thompson Road in the town industrial park.
General Plasma started in Connecticut in 1966, and became an early occupant of property in the new East Windsor Industrial Park in Jan. 1980. The company applied metallic, ceramic and plastic coatings for products used in the aircraft, land-based turbine, medical implant, diesel engine and automotive industries.
Of particular interest to me is that snazzy vehicle parked in front. I'm not sure of the make, model or year (possibly a '77 Buick LeSabre), but the hood is big enough to hold infield practice on it. It's what we used to call in my day a real gas guzzler.

After operating in East Windsor for 14 years, General Plasma was acquired in July 1994 by the New Jersey-based Engelhard Corp., a provider of specialty chemical products, engineered materials and precious metals management services. After several more transfers in the early 2010s, the property is now occupied by Curtiss-Wright Surface Technologies.
Here is a more contemporary look at the building, from the summer of 2019, courtesy of Google Maps.
