Windsor Locks High School Exceptional Students - Valedictorian and Salutatorian
Sara Onley named Valedictorian for the class of 2016
Sara is a Scholar-Athlete and a leader in the school community. She has remained on the Honor Roll for all four years. She has taken multiple Advanced Placement and Honors level courses. Sara has received many accolades for her academic performance. She represented Windsor Locks at the Hugh O’ Brien Youth Leadership Foundation Conference and Girls State. In addition, Sara was given Underclassmen Awards in Biology and AP US History. She was also awarded the Wellesley Book Award, was a Rotary Student of the Month, and has received both a CHET Scholarship and the Elks Club Scholarship.

Sara has been active in various extra-curricular activities both in and out of Windsor Locks High School. She was the Freshman Class President, has played Girls Tennis and has been a valuable member of the Girls Varsity Swim Team. Sara received the Coaches Award for swimming, was honored as a Scholar Athlete for swimming in all four years of participation, and was named Captain of the Swim Team for her Senior Year. Sara is also a certified lifeguard. Sara is currently a partner/coach to Special Olympic athletes. She has been involved with the organization for the past eight years and has assisted with the track and field events, croquet and bowling.
After graduation, Sara plans to attend the University of Vermont in the fall where she will major in Nursing.

Peter Graywacs named Salutatorian for the class of 2016
Throughout the past four years, Peter has achieved widespread recognition for his academic performance, extended volunteer service and extracurricular activities. Peter is a student that enjoys helping the school and town community through tutoring fellow students in academics and music as well as volunteering for various local organizations. He has maintained high honor roll status for the past four years and has taken seven Advanced Placement classes. Peter has been recognized by several academic organizations and has been awarded the AP Scholar Award, The Harvard-Radcliffe Book Award, The Voice of Democracy Certificate of Merit, The Rotary Clubs Scholastic Achievement Award, and The Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarship Award. Most recently, Peter was nominated for The Connecticut Association of Schools (CAS) Arts Award. Each high school that is a CAS member may select two outstanding performing and/or visual arts seniors. Peter spent time behind the scenes during play productions by managing the lighting and sound. Peter earned a leading role for Windsor Locks High School’s production of Little Shop of Horrors (2015) and Les Misérables (2016). Peter also began singing and dancing in Vocal Motion and show choir for his senior year.
After graduation, Peter plans to attend The University of Hartford in the fall where he will major in Secondary Education - Mathematics and minor in music.
