Proud Dad Swears In Son As Broad Brook Junior Firefighter

The swearing-in marked a family milestone for the Broad Brook Fire Department.

BROAD BROOK, CT — The Broad Brook Fire Department welcomed a new junior firefighter this week in a moment that also carried special meaning for one local family.

The department said Assistant Chief James Bancroft had the honor of swearing in his son, Jacob “Jake” Bancroft, as a junior firefighter.

According to the department, Jake is already a familiar face around the firehouse. Officials said he often spends time there whenever he can, watching drills, listening closely and stepping up to help out.

In a social media post, department members said they are looking forward to seeing Jake grow and learn in the fire service.

The department also welcomed him to the BBFD team as he begins his journey as a junior firefighter.
