Public Invited To 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony In Windsor Locks
The 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on America will be solemnly observed with a remembrance ceremony at the Connecticut Fire Academy.

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — The public is invited to a 20th anniversary remembrance ceremony of the 9/11 attacks on America Friday morning at the Connecticut Fire Academy near Bradley International Airport.
At 9 a.m., the fire academy will pause all activities to begin a solemn remembrance of the tragic events which occurred at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and in rural Pennsylvania. Attendees are invited to attend to remember those events and pay their respects.
On Sept. 11, 2001, four separate aircraft were hijacked;two crashed into New York’s World Trade Center buildings and one into the Pentagon. On the fourth aircraft passengers attempted to subdue the hijackers and the plane crashed in Shanksville, Penn. The attacks caused 2,996 deaths and thousands more were injured.

The fire academy pauses each year to remember the 412 emergency responders who died trying to rescue those trapped in the buildings. The ceremony will showcase the 9/11 and Connecticut Fallen Firefighters Memorials, which were recently upgraded.
