Referendum Slated For Tuesday In Windsor Locks

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — Residents of Windsor Locks are asked to participate in a referendum Tuesday, concerning a pair of resolutions for partial roof replacements at two town schools, and roadway improvements on several town streets.

From noon through 8 p.m., registered voters may cast their ballots in District 1 at Town Hall, or in District 2 at Windsor Locks High School.

The resolutions were recommended by the Board of Finance and Board of Selectmen. They read as follows:

  • RESOLVED: that the Board of Finance recommends that the Town of Windsor Locks reduce by $375,000, to the extent not previously expended or encumbered, the $2,865,000 appropriation and borrowing authorization for the partial roof replacement at Windsor Locks High School approved at Town meeting May 21, 2019 and Referendum June 18, 2019, for a net appropriation and borrowing authorization of $2,490,000.
  • RESOLVED: that the Board of Finance recommends that the Town of Windsor Locks increase by $375,000 the $1,200,000 appropriation and borrowing authorization for partial roof replacement at South Street School approved at Town Meeting May 21, 2019 and Referendum June 18, 2019 for an aggregate appropriation and borrowing authorization of $1,575,000.
  • RESOLVED, that the Board of Finance recommends that the Town of Windsor Locks appropriate $2,000,000 for 2021 Roadway Infrastructure Improvements consisting of: (i) sanitary sewer sanitary sewerage conveyances and infrastructure within and in the vicinity of Halfway House Road, Webb Street, South Street, and Second Street; (ii) repair/modification/replacement of drainage systems and/or components, culverts, outfalls, improvements required by MS4 regulations and aspects of erosion control in the vicinity of Halfway House Road, Webb, South, and Second Streets; (iii) reclaiming, grading, resurfacing or milling and paving portions of: Portions of Halfway House Road, Webb, South, and Second Streets; and (iv) sidewalk installation and repair in these areas.

According to First Selectman Chris Kervick, "The ones to do with the roof were already approved but require a correction without an increase in the overall amount."
