Serious Crash Closes Route 5 In East Windsor
Police said Route 5 was closed between Stoughton Road and Abbe Road after a serious crash.
EAST WINDSOR, CT — A motorcycle operator was flown to Hartford Hospital on Monday after a crash on South Main Street, police said.
The East Windsor Police Department said officers responded at about 11:12 a.m. to the area of 200 South Main St. for a crash involving a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle.
Officers began investigating the crash and rendered aid to the motorcycle operator, according to a press release from Chief Matthew J. Carl.

Police said the motorcycle operator was taken from the scene by ambulance to a Life Star helicopter that had landed in a field on Abbe Road. The operator was then flown to Hartford Hospital for treatment.
The East Windsor Ambulance Association, Broad Brook Fire Department and Warehouse Point Fire Department assisted at the scene, police said.

Metro Traffic Services, a regional traffic and crash reconstruction unit, responded to the scene and is investigating the crash.
South Main Street, also known as Route 5, was expected to remain closed for several hours while the investigation was conducted. Police and fire officials asked drivers to avoid the area and use another route.
