Suddenly Awoken Driver Nearly Strikes Officer While Speeding Around McDonald’s: Windsor Locks PD
The driver nearly struck an officer while "frantically" accelerating his vehicle around a McDonald's several times, according to police.
WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — A suddenly awoken driver nearly struck a police officer while “frantically” accelerating his vehicle around a McDonald’s building during the overnight hours in Windsor Locks recently, according to police.
A Windsor Locks police officer was conducting business checks around 2:50 a.m. at McDonald’s at 195 Ella Grasso Turnpike on Oct. 18 when they noticed a man seated in a parked vehicle who appeared to be passed out due to possible narcotic use, according to police.
Police said a woman exited McDonald’s and “yelled at the driver that the cops were there.”

The man “suddenly awoke and didn't listen to officer commands,” according to police.
“The male frantically accelerated this vehicle and drove several laps around the building at a high rate of speed almost striking the officer,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “The vehicle was able to evade police after operating dangerously at [a] high rate of speed.”

Police said information has been given to surrounding towns and the case remains open.
