Swede's Jewelers 70th Anniversary

Swede's Jewelers Celebrates 70Th Anniversary and Honored with 2016 Connecticut Family Business Award

Swede’s Jewelers, founded in 1946, is celebrating 70 years of quality craftsmanship in their full service jewelry store located at 98 Bridge Street in East Windsor, Connecticut.

After returning home from serving in World War II, Stan Swede founded Swede’s Jeweler where he specialized in expert watch repair. His dream was to own a full service jewelry store. Stan’s philosophy was if you provide high quality merchandise at fair prices and back it up with honesty, integrity and excellent service you will always have a loyal clientele. That philosophy paid off and it wasn’t long before Stan and his wife, Alice opened a storefront on Main Street in Windsor locks.

Stan and Alice had eight children, who at one time or another, helped out in the store. This is where they were taught the value of hard work and craftsmanship along with the core values of integrity, quality and expert service and the importance of civic responsibility. The Swede family always supported and continues to support the local community.

Those same values, instilled by their parents, are the core of Swede’s Jewelers today. Rob Swede, along with his brother, Stan Jr. and his sister, Elaine Ward, all registered jewelers, run the store. Rob and Stan are both graduate gemologists. Mandy Mott, a long time trusted employee, is also a graduate gemologist with over 30 years’ experience in the jewelry industry. In celebration of their 70th Anniversary Swede’s Jewelers underwent major renovations, expanded their jewelry line and updated their website to bring their store into the future.

Recently, Swede’s Jewelers was awarded 1st place in the 2016 Connecticut Family Business Awards, sponsored by the Hartford Business Journal. Upon receiving the award, Rob Swede stated “We are so excited to have won this award and still can’t believe we were so fortunate. All of us who attended the recognition dinner had a blast and were so grateful. This achievement would not have been possible without the loyalty and support our customers have shown throughout the years.”
