Teacher In East Windsor Earns State Honor
A Broad Brook Elementary School teacher was recognized this month through the Connecticut Teacher Residency Program.

EAST WINDSOR, CT — A Broad Brook Elementary School teacher is being recognized statewide for her work in East Windsor classrooms.
East Windsor Public Schools said Sophia Sundar Raj, a third-grade teacher at Broad Brook Elementary School, recently received the Connecticut Teacher Residency Program Alumni Core Value Award.
She was honored March 5 during the program’s fourth annual alumni conference and reunion at Central Connecticut State University, according to the district.

District officials said the award recognizes graduates who reflect the program’s mission through courageous leadership, a commitment to equity, a pursuit of excellence and collaboration within their schools and communities.
East Windsor Public Schools also noted that Sundar Raj was the first teacher selected for the district’s Teacher Residency Program when it launched in 2023.

In a social media post announcing the award, the district said Sundar Raj was nominated by the East Windsor school community and praised her for reflecting the values the school system aims to uphold.
