According to a police report, around 1:55 p.m., Gunning was driving a 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan northbound on I-91 near exit 42 in Windsor Locks when she rear-ended a 2003 Ford F-350 operated by Kevin Dutra, 46, of Colchester.

The collision caused Dutra to lose control of his truck, which swerved across the roadway and struck the metal guardrail, where it overturned and came to rest against some trees along the right shoulder. Dutra sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash, the report said.
