Vote or WRITE IN Gilbert Hayes for Selectman

First of all I would like to thank all my supporters and to all the people who gathered signatures for me.  Secondly, I must inform you that sadly my petition to be placed on the November 2013 ballot to run for selectman was denied.  The Democrat Registrar of Voters had never encountered a petition to be placed on the ballot so policies and procedures were new to him and to me.  My direction, before I left for Africa to work on a goodwill trip for the Donate for Life organization, was to obtain as many signatures as I could get.  Unfortunately, I and my fellow supporters who gathered signatures were not aware we needed to get the forms notarized prior to soliciting signatures.

This misfortune was brought to my attention from the Town Clerk’s office when I returned from Africa after Denise Menard and Richard Leborius contacted the Town Clerk to get copies of all my signatures.  Denise and Richard contacted the Secretary of State and had me removed from being able to be placed on the ballot.

At the last Democratic Town Committee meeting MANY democrats voiced their support to have me placed on the ballot.   Alan Baker, Democrat Selectman and Angela Severino indicated I should be placed on the ballot.  Alan indicated at the Democratic Caucus I was nominated to be placed on ballot for selectman however, Joe Saurerhaufer, quickly intervened and made a motion to close the nominations.  This took everyone off guard and no one had time to act.

East Windsor Community members why does Denise Menard, Richard Leborius, and a select few not want me on the ballot?  Why are they not allowing the residents of East Windsor the opportunity to vote for whoever they want?  Could it be as predicated in previous elections I could possibly obtain more votes than Dale Nelson and win a seat?  Could it be I could possibly obtain more votes than Jason? 

I have sought legal advice and am trying to obtain and injunction which could stop Denise Menard and Richard Laborius’s actions and would allow me to be placed on the ballot.  Coincidently other democratic town committee members were placed on the ballot after the caucus so why can’t I be??

If the injunction does not come through I will be campaigning as a “WRITE IN” candidate for a seat on the Board of Selectman.  I will provide my supporters with a complete sample ballot with instructions on how to “WRITE-IN” Gilbert Hayes for Selectman.
