Water Main Replacement To Cause Detours In East Windsor, Enfield
The Connecticut Water Company will be replacing more than a mile of aging water main in a project expected to last several months.

EAST WINDSOR/ENFIELD, CT — Replacement of an aging water main line extending about 1.3 miles will begin next Monday by the Connecticut Water Company, causing detours to be implemented in East Windsor and Enfield.
North Main Street in East Windsor, beginning at Route 140 or Bridge Street, and Depot Hill Road in Enfield, from Route 5 or King Street, will be closed to through traffic between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Only local travel by residents, school buses and customers and employees of businesses in the work area will be allowed, and driveway access will be maintained. Business in the work area will be open.
Detours involving Routes 5 and 140 are expected to be in place through mid-September, as 7,000 feet of water main is to be replaced. The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of October.

"The water main being replaced is 60 to 80 years old and is a mix of 6 inch and 8 inch in diameter. The new pipe will be mostly 8 inch in diameter, which will improve water system reliability and increase the flow of water available to fire hydrants," Connecticut Water’s vice president of service delivery Craig Patla said. He added the project is being done through the company’s Water Infrastructure and Conservation Adjustment (WICA) program, and the establishment of a detour, as compared to a partial road closure, will allow the project to be completed as quickly and safely as possible.
Additional information will be available on Connecticut Water’s website at www.ctwater.com/projects.
