Windsor Locks Budget Vote Results Are In

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — Windsor Locks voters rejected the town’s 2026-27 budget for a fourth time Tuesday.

All three budget questions failed in the July 14 referendum, according to results posted by First Selectman Jon Savino’s office.

The main town and school budget failed 1,139-269.

The Tax Increment Financing District budget failed 880-519.

The capital budget failed 848-549.

The latest vote followed three earlier failed budget referendums in June. Voters rejected all three budget questions on June 2, June 16 and June 30.

The town’s latest proposal came after several rounds of cuts. In recent days, the Windsor Locks Public Library, Park and Recreation Department and Senior Center issued warnings about possible service cuts if the reduced budget moved forward.

The library said its budget could be cut in half, leading to reduced hours, staff layoffs, no new books and fewer programs.

Park and Recreation warned that the town pool, swim lessons and summer camp could be affected.

The Senior Center said its budget was reduced by $100,000, which could affect transportation, meal programs, classes and membership fees.

The Board of Finance is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, at Town Hall. Savino encouraged residents to attend and share their thoughts.
