Windsor Locks, East Windsor School Districts Ranked Among Top 100 in Connecticut

Niche.com has compiled its list of the top 100 school districts in the United States and five Connecticut schools made the list.

The Edgemont Union Free School District in Greenburgh, N.Y. was voted No. 1 in the nation. Connecticut school districts ranked in the top 100 include: New Canaan, 19, Westport, 30, Darien, 73, Ridgefield, 79, Glastonbury, 87, and Simsbury, 100.

The website ranked the Top 100 districts based on various factors such as the quality of its Academics, Extracurriculars & Activities, Student Culture & Diversity, and Teachers.

According to Niche, it “ranks more than 100,000 public and private schools and districts based on dozens of statistics and 27 million opinions from 300,000 students and parents.”

A separate list was also compiled ranking the top 100 school districts in Connecticut.

East Windsor is ranked the 97th best school system in the state. Overall, the district received a B- grade and there are more than 30 reviews by faculty, students and parents, which can be read at Niche.com.

East Windsor received a C+ for academics and a B- for its teachers. A total of 74 percent of students are considered proficient in math and/or reading. The district spends an average of $18,896 educating each student, according to Niche.

Windsor Locks is ranked the 98th best school system in the state. Overall, the district received a B- grade and there are more than 50 reviews by faculty, students and parents, which can be read at Niche.com.

Windsor Locks received a B- for academics and a B for its teachers. A total of 80 percent of students are considered proficient in math and/or reading. The district spends an average of $19,715 educating each student, according to Niche.
