Windsor Locks Man Struck, Killed By Vehicle
He had stopped on Route 75 to assist a woman whom he had just struck when he was hit by another vehicle, according to police.

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — A local man whose car had just struck a pedestrian on Route 75 was himself struck and killed by another vehicle after stopping to render assistance to the woman he had hit.
Around 10:06 p.m. Wednesday, Windsor Locks police officers responded to 911 calls regarding a motor vehicle accident near Friendly’s restaurant on Route 75. Michael Mangeri, 64, of Windsor Locks was operating his Chevy Cruze north when he struck a pedestrian, Jessica Gelebert, 30, of Hartford, who was crossing the roadway, police said.
Mangeri stopped and exited his vehicle to render assistance when he was struck by a second vehicle, operated by Brian Root, 30, of Agawam, Mass., according to police.

At this time we do have witnesses which have cooperated with the investigation.
All three people were transported to a hospital, where Mangeri was pronounced dead. Gelebert is expected to recover, and Root was transported for symptoms of shock, police said.

The North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction team responded, and the investigation is ongoing. The road was closed for several hours, and no charges have yet been filed.
