Windsor Locks Obituary: Lucille Sherman, 94

Lucille Cheney Sherman, 94, of Windsor Locks died peacefully at home Sunday, June 5, 2016.

Born in Barre, Vermont on March 7, 1922 to Neal and Mary (Lillian) Cheney, she grew up in Manchester, graduating from Manchester High, class of 1940B. She was proud of her working years at Connecticut General, Pratt & Whitney, Hamilton Standard and Windsor Locks Congregational Church. She loved reading, good food, movies, UConn Women's basketball, Little League baseball, the Olympics and trips to Sanibel with her husband John with whom she spent 46 wonderful years. The most important things in her life were her faith, family and friends.

She leaves her children, Sally Raddatz and her husband, Jon of East Hampton CT, John (Buzzy) Sherman and his wife, Anita of Brooklyn CT and Suzanne Brown and her husband, Thomas of Manchester CT; six grandchildren, Bryan and Rachel Raddatz, Tyler Raddatz, Erik and Sabrina Sherman, Neal Sherman, Gene Sherman, and John Sherman; a great grandson, Edon Raddatz; a sister-in-law, Betty Cheney of Shrewsbury, MA and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her beloved husband, John D. Sherman, she was predeceased by a brother, Wendell Cheney and a granddaughter, Erin Raddatz.

Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring Street, Windsor Locks. Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Living Waters Fellowship Church, 200 Spring Street, Windsor Locks. Burial will follow at Grove Cemetery.
