Windsor Locks Park Trail To Reopen Saturday
The scenic Connecticut River trail has been closed since June 1.

WINDSOR, CT - Windsor Locks Canal State Park Trail will reopen Saturday, according to a release from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP). The park has been closed since June 1, when the DEEP and the Windsor Locks Canal Company began working to address issues regarding insurance and the public use of the property.
The company has leased the land to DEEP for public recreational purposes at no cost. The trail is a 4 1/2-mile scenic route along the Connecticut River.
Crews are continuing to work on clearing brush and debris on the trail. Windsor Locks Canal Company agreed to reopen the park while the state agency looks for alternative insurance options.
