Windsor Locks Police Arrest Convicted Felon on Gun, Drug Charges

Police say the arrest stems from an investigation from earlier this summer.

Windsor Locks Police recently arrested a convicted felon on gun and drug charges related to an investigation from earlier this summer.

Police arrested Shaun Savage, 37, address unknown, on a warrant Sept. 9 on numerous gun and narcotics violations.

Police said the arrest stems from a July 27 incident in which officers received information that Savage was on his way to the Spring Street area of Windsor Locks. Savage is known to WLPD officers for his convicted felon status and an active Remand to Custody order that is on file, according to police.

WLPD officers positioned themselves in the area and shortly thereafter a vehicle matching that known to officers entered Windsor Locks and was stopped by police on Glendale Circle.

Police said the male in the vehicle gave what proved to be a false name. While in the vehicle, the male was holding a black object in his hands and was ordered to drop the object, which police say he did.

The man was positively identified as Savage, who police said absconded from the Board of Parole. He was then removed from the passenger seat and a search revealed a loaded .32 caliber handgun under the seat where Savage had just been sitting.

Police said the black object was found to be a “silencer” custom fitted for that .32 cal. handgun.

Savage also had a sandwich bag of pills and various other illegal narcotics that were a mix a mix of crack, cocaine, “Molly” and “Ecstasy,” according to police.

Savage was immediately taken into custody and turned over to a member of the Board of Pardon and Paroles Fugitive Investigation Unit.

Savage was transported to Hartford Correctional Center for the Remand to Custody order.

Savage was arrested on charges of illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, illegal carrying of a pistol without a permit, criminal possession of a firearm, possession of a silencer, possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics, possession of hallucinogen, possession with intent to sell and interfering with an officer.

Savage was held on a $250,000 bond. He is due in court on Oct. 14 and is currently being held in the Dept. of Correction, according to police.
