WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — Windsor Locks police have set the record straight regarding an officer posted at the Montgomery building. The officer is there on a private duty assignment and was hired by Montgomery management to manage public safety.

Police officials said there was inaccurate information on social media about the posted officer not enforcing traffic violations.

"The officer's job is to assist those crossing the street until the street lights/crossing signals are installed and up to speed," police said in a Facebook post. "They are not to leave their post unless authorized or a exigent situation arises."

Police also said officers regularly post on Church Street to observe the 159/140 intersection and enforce traffic violations.

"It is a congested traffic area and due caution should be observed by all. Enforcement activity will continue but not by the officer assigned to the Montgomery detail."
