2018 Schedule as Follows
OPEN DAILY - Saturday, April 14, 2018 thru Sunday April 29, 2018 (operating hours 8am - 3:45pm)
OPEN EVERY WEEKEND (every Saturday and Sunday) During the months of May, June, July, August, September and part of October (operating hours are 8am - 3:45pm)
OPEN DAILY - October 20, 2018 thru December 2, 2018 - (operating hours 8am - 3:45pm)Permits are Required: Windsor Locks residents may obtain permits at the Public Works Department located on Stanton Road. Proof of residency is needed to obtain a permit.
Notes about permits: Permits are required for ENTRY into the site Permits will be issued to RESIDENTS of Windsor Locks. The vehicle being used must be registered in Windsor Locks.Permits are required for each vehicle intended for use by residents at the site.Permits must be affixed to the lower left side of the windshield on the registered vehicle (new 2018).
COMPOST FACILITY RULES:Residents may bring compostable material and vegetative wood waste only. Items should be separated and placed in the proper area. See the site monitor if you have any questions.
Compostable Items Accepted: Leaves, Grass Clippings, small sticks, mushrooms, acorns, pine cones, thatch.
Wood Waste Accepted: Tree material such as limbs, logs, branches, bushes and shrubs (TREE STUMPS ARE NOT ALLOWED).
UNACCEPTABLE ITEMS INCLUDE: Food Waste, Stumps, Sod, Stones, Soil, Pressure Treated Wood, Lumber, Construction Materials, Household Trash.
TREE STUMPS are not accepted at the compost site. Harvest New England, located in Ellington CT will take them for a fee. Click here form more information.
