Windsor Locks Student-Athlete Featured In National Video Campaign

She shared her message at a National Student Leadership Summit last summer.

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — A student-athlete from Windsor Locks High School has been featured in a national video campaign by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS).

The NFHS #MyReasonWhy campaign, in its second year, is designed to showcase the tremendous value that high school sports and activities offer to students. In the first year, more than 500 unique stories were submitted through the campaign website from students, coaches and administrators, which re-affirmed that high school students involved in education-based activity programs demonstrate a higher level of academic performance and set themselves up for successful careers following high school graduation.

The most recent video was from Derby Egyin of Windsor Locks, who shared her message at the National Student Leadership Summit last summer.

"I used to play soccer, I used to play basketball, but now tennis is just everything to me. It gives me an outlet, because in all the other activities I do, I have to work so hard and always be focused and really be a leader. In tennis, yes I have to be a leader as well, but it's more like relaxing and I get my aggression out, if I have any. I think it gives me an outlet, like a home for me."
