Windsor Locks Woman Wins $100K

She snared a top prize in the CT Lottery Cash5 game.

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — Family has always been the center for Deborah LaDuke of Windsor Locks. So much so that when she won a $100,000 "Cash5" top prize, she used her grandchildren's birthday numbers.

All five of LaDuke’s numbers were a perfect match to the winning numbers drawn on January 2, 2017: 1 – 3 – 14 – 16 – 30. In total, 3,253 winning tickets were sold statewide, with prizes ranging in value from $2 to $100,000 each.

"Can't be me!" LaDuke exclaimed when she checked her winning numbers using the official CT Lottery App. "I looked at the numbers, circled them, checked the date and then the numbers again."

She was at a loss for words but immediately sent screenshots and pictures to her family. Disbelief and excitement were common feelings amongst the LaDuke family, "No way! You deserve it!"

LaDuke has always enjoyed the outdoors and plans to "... take a trip to Alaska--for the scenery--wilderness. If I was younger, I'd probably go for a longer trip."

The lucky winner has always dedicated her time to her family and looks to enjoy her prize with a well-deserved adventure. "It's my turn now," LaDuke said with a content smile.

For selling the winning ticket, Fas Mart #306 located on 269 Main Street in Windsor Locks will receive a $1,000 bonus check from the CT Lottery.
