As Winter Practices Open, A Look At WLHS And EWHS Past Team Titles

WINDSOR LOCKS-EAST WINDSOR, CT — The winter sports campaign is officially upon us as practice is scheduled to open Monday for high school wrestling, girls basketball and ice hockey teams throughout Connecticut. Indoor track, boys basketball, boys swimming and gymnastics all begin practice Thursday.

With players slated to take the court, ice and mat later this afternoon, dreams of a state championship berth in March are already formulating in the minds of athletes and coaches alike.

Here is the state title history in winter sports for teams from Windsor Locks and East Windsor high schools (* indicates co-op team). Note that prior to 1956, high school students from East Windsor attended Ellsworth Memorial High School in South Windsor, which won seven winter titles; those records are included here.
