Woman Accused In Wheelchair Assault Denied Special Probation

A South Windsor woman accused of elder abuse at a Windsor Locks facility may serve jail time.

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT - A South Windsor woman accused of launching an elderly woman out of her wheelchair was denied special probation that would have allowed her to avoid jail time and a criminal record, according to the Hartford Courant. Christine Christensen was arrested and charged in August with third-degree abuse, second-degree reckless endangerment and third-degree assault of an elderly person.

Christensen has never previously been convicted of a crime, allowing her to apply for special probation. However, the judge in the case denied her application following viewing a video of the incident along with photo's of the victim's injuries, the Courant reported.

Police said at the time that surveillance footage from the Stonebrook Village facility shows Christensen pushing an 83-year-old woman down the hall July 9. Christensen appears to deliberately push the woman forward causing her to fall to the floor.
