
A COMMUNITY RESPONSE TO IMMIGRATION ENFORCMENT: FAITHFUL NEXT STEPS
WOODBURY, Connecticut– The Woodbury United Methodist Church announces, “A Community Response to Immigration Enforcement: Faithful Next Steps.”The community is invited to this free forum which will address the immigrant experience in Connecticut, misperceptions, immigrant rights, and current ICE activity. The presentation will offer resources and options for interested people to engage in meaningful ways to support those directly impacted by current immigration enforcement.
Speakers include Reverand Paul Fleck and Professor Carina Banhauer. Reverend Fleck is the Executive Director of Immigration Law and Justice New York, a United Methodist immigration ministry. Professor Carina Bandhauer is a professor in sociology specializing in immigration studies, racism, and Latin America. She is one of the founding members of Danbury Unites for Immigrants. Professor Bandhauer is committed to teaching, researching, and working to achieve social justice through awareness. A personal experience will be shared by a member of Danbury Unites for Immigrants.
The Woodbury United Methodist Church is hosting this event as part of its “Crossroads” series that considers the intersection of faith and current events.The church is committed to social justice through many of its ministries, including Affirmation & Inclusion, Mission & Outreach, and Christian Education.
