50 Woodbury Residents Protest Dollar General Plans: Report

A public hearing was held this week and numerous residents attended and shared their thoughts on the project.

WOODBURY, CT — No vote has been taken yet but about 50 residents attended a public hearing this week and made their feelings known that they want no part of the proposed Dollar General store downtown, the Republican-American reports.

The proposed 7,500 square-foot store would be located at 614 Main Street South. Residents said the national chain is all wrong for Woodbury's small-town image and it would open the door to even more chains, the Rep-Am reports.

Dollar General representatives countered that the store isn't a dollar store and that the business would not generate significantly more traffic through the area.
