Acts 4 Ministry Seeking Donations For Purchase of New Mattresses For Area Residents Who Lose Their Homes to Fires, Etc.
The non-denominational, non-profit Acts 4 Ministry is seeking to purchase 20 new mattress sets for individuals and families.

Acts 4 Ministry, Inc. in Waterbury is seeking monetary donations through November 29th to purchase 20 new full and queen-sized mattress sets for people who have suddenly lost their homes to fire, flood, domestic disputes and other reasons. The non-denominational, non-profit organization serves the needs of these families and individuals who are in dire financial distress and have lost their homes and most of their possessions due to devastating life events.
“Acts 4 Ministry is not a church or affiliated with a religious organization,” stated executive director, Sarah Elizabeth DiMeo-Carabetta. “We are a collaborative group of a board of directors, staff and volunteers who work to meet the physical needs of other people. To achieve that goal, we collect and distribute, at no charge to recipients, clothing, furniture, and household wares. Each year we distribute clothing to nearly 4,000 people, and over 1,000 pieces of furniture and housewares to people of varying income levels throughout the Greater Waterbury area regardless of their race, religion or creed.”
Located at 1713 Thomaston Avenue in Waterbury, Acts 4 Ministry’s building also features a store environment where people with immediate needs can select clothing, furniture and household items. “Individuals and families can come here to personally select clothing, dishes, glassware, furnishings, and other basic needs at no charge. They are frequently referred to us by other charitable organizations or service organizations and we provide them with an atmosphere which preserves their dignity and allows them to select what they personally need vs. being handed clothing or furnishings they do not desire. This is a respectful environment where everyone is treated with caring support,” stated DiMeo-Carabetta.

Acts 4 Ministry is seeking $5,000 in donations to purchase a minimum of 20 sets of full and queen-sized mattress sets. With support from Sandy Marino, owner of Sandy’s TV & Appliances in Wolcott to procure the mattress sets, the ambition will be to deliver the sets to families-in-need shortly after the Thanksgiving holiday.
The Mattress Drive was launched in October with support from prominent Waterbury attorney Timothy Moynahan in front of his offices at 60 Main Street North. Moynahan pledged his support to David Rogers, Acts 4 Ministry Board Chairman (left) and Sarah DiMeo-Carabetta.
