MIDDLEBURY, CT — Middlebury's selectmen may vote to settle a lawsuit over a Straits Turnpike property and consider forming a historic properties commission, police host residents for coffee, and Woodbury's Planning Commission reconvenes a resubdivision hearing.

1. Middlebury Selectmen May Settle Straits Turnpike Lawsuit
When: Monday, Oct. 5, 5 p.m.
Where: Town Hall Conference Room, 1212 Whittemore Road, Middlebury, and on Zoom
What to know: After an executive session on the case, the Board of Selectmen may vote to settle Infinity VI v. Town of Middlebury, a lawsuit involving 765 Straits Turnpike, according to its agenda. The board will also discuss forming a historic properties commission, consider a resolution on the region's 2025 Homeland Security grant agreement and set dates for special meetings to interview candidates for legal services. Announcements include that draft zoning regulations are posted for review on the Planning & Zoning page of the town website. Three appointments to the Commission on Aging are also on the agenda.

2. Coffee With A Cop In Middlebury
When: Wednesday, Oct. 7, 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Where: Alltown Fresh, 504 Middlebury Road, Middlebury
What to know: Residents can stop by for coffee and conversation with local police, according to an announcement on the Board of Selectmen's agenda.

3. Woodbury Planners Reconvene Carmel Hill Road Hearing
When: Wednesday, Oct. 7, 7 p.m.
Where: Senior/Community Center, 265 Main St. South, Woodbury
What to know: The Planning Commission will reconvene a public hearing on a proposed two-lot resubdivision at 95 Carmel Hill Road, in the OS-100 district. The agenda says the hearing must close that night unless the applicant grants an extension. Members will also review action items from the town's Plan of Conservation and Development, and the meeting includes time for public comment.

4. Paving, Curbing On Three Middlebury Roads
When: Ongoing; paving began Oct. 1
Where: Strathmore Road, Falcon Crest Road and Tyler Road, Middlebury
What to know: After a weather delay, paving of Strathmore, Falcon Crest and Tyler roads began Oct. 1 and will continue until it's complete, according to the Department of Public Works. Curbing will follow, and DPW crews will then backfill the curbs. Drivers should use caution in the area. Questions can go to DPW at 203-577-4170. Separately, the town says the blasting permit for Nick Road has been renewed for another 30 days.

5. Woodbury's Library Of The Future Committee Meets
When: Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1 p.m.
Where: Shove Building Conference Room, 281 Main St. South, Woodbury
What to know: The Library of the Future Committee, chaired by Burt Stevens, will review input from phase chairs and members on the committee's timeline and continue discussing its subcommittees' next steps, according to its agenda. The meeting includes time for public comment. Also in the Shove Building this week: Woodbury's Ad Hoc Business & Economic Development Committee meets Thursday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m.
