Below are the most interesting recent blotter items in our region. All defendants are innocent unless proven guilty in court.

In sad news out of Oxford, Jackson's Cove Park was closed this week following a dog mauling during which four larger dogs reportedly attacked and killed a smaller one. The larger dogs were said to be Newfoundlands and the smaller a Labrador Retriever. Read more here: http://patch.com/A-k8dt

 

It was a real zoo in Middlebury over the last week, as police reported seven different animal-related incidents. They also responded to a domestic dispute during which one party bounced a basketball "off the other's face." Read more here: http://patch.com/A-kBXk

You never know who is watching in Monroe, apparently. In one incident, a Monroe man was arrested for allegedly violating a restraing order against him when his ex-wife's neighbor reported him to police for driving around her home and parking in driveways on either side of her residence. A separate incident saw a shoplifter get caught by an eye in the sky, as surveillance footage led to her arrest. Read more here: http://patch.com/A-k9QQ

It was some not-so-high times for a few Bethel residents this past week when a couple was arrested for alleged marijuana cultivation. Among other things, the couple was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession within 1,500 feet of a school and cultivation. Read more here: http://patch.com/A-k9ph
