Art Lovers Tour @ Matt Museum Dec. 10

Explore the work of Jane Peterson: At Home and Abroad at noon.

Bring the family and spend a day @ The MATT on Sunday, December 10! The Museum will be open with free General Admission from noon-5:00 p.m.

Art lovers are invited to a tour of Jane Peterson: At Home and Abroad at noon. Explore Peterson’s subjects and stylistic techniques through her paintings that showcase her worldwide travels and her visits to lush domestic gardens. The tour is Free for Members and $7 for the General Public.

Following the tour, two new exhibitions will be celebrated with an opening reception from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Connected: Relationships with Machines by Andrzej Zieliński is a series of paintings that come from the artist’s fascination with technology and the notion that technology is ever-encroaching on our daily lives. Painting With a Camera: Jerome Sedlock features large format photography by artist Sedlock’s background in engineering informs his pieces that feature abstract imagery that plays with hard and soft light. Both exhibitions will be on view through February 11, 2018. The reception is free and open to the public.

Kids are in for a treat beginning from 1:00-3:00 p.m. when Santa arrives at the Museum to hear holiday wishes! Children and their families will also be able to enjoy milk and cookies while working on an art activity beginning at 1:00 p.m. Continue spreading the holiday spirit by bringing an unwrapped toy for a child in need and put it in Santa’s sleigh! The Museum is looking for toys for ages newborn-fifteen years old. Books are welcome too. Toys will be donated to local organizations collecting toys for children. Visting Santa and holiday arts & crafts are free and all are welcome.

At 3:00 sing in the season with a holiday concert featuring operatic soprano Marissa Famiglietti. Ms. Famiglietti will be joined by baritone Shae Apland and pianist David Kendall. Singing holiday favorites, this group will leave you wanting to deck your own halls as you leave the Museum! Ms. Famiglietti has most recently been heard singing as the soprano soloist in Mozart’s Great Mass in C Minor with the Waterbury Chorale and festival orchestra. Tickets are $25 for Members and $35 for General Admission.
