Assault of One Male Leads to Arrest of Two Females

A party ends in an assault the night of Saturday, June 7.

 

Middlebury police officers were dispatched to the area of Watertown Road and Park Road after receiving information on a reported serious assault at approximately 9:39 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, according to a police report from Lt. Richard A. Wildman.

Police found an unnamed white male victim just over the Watertown town line, bleeding from his head and face. He was being treated by Watertown police and emergency medical service personnel, the police report stated.

The victim was transported to Waterbury Hospital, where he was treated for several injuries. He reportedly received stitches and staples due to the injuries.

Chantel Benoit, 20, and Doreen Munko-Nelson, 50, both of 101 Prospect St., Waterbury, were arrested on the following charges: assault in the second degree.

According to the police report, Benoit and Munko-Nelson were at the victim's residence in Middlebury on Watertown Road. They were reportedly brought there by the victim after returning from a party in Watertown.

The two women were reportedly intoxicated and both allegedly assaulted the victim with kicks, punches, a wooden cane and a bucket after some type of verbal altercation began between the three of them, Lt. Wildman stated in the police report.

Benoit and Munko-Nelson reportedly fled on foot right after the alleged assault.

Benoit was located by Watertown Police walking on Bunker Hill Avenue in Watertown and Munko-Nelson was located on Park Road and Straits Turnpike by Middlebury police officers.

Both women were later released on $10,000 non-surety bonds and issued a Wednesday, Jan. 18, court date in Waterbury Superior Court.

Officer Patrick Deely and Officer Todd Adams were the lead investigators, assisted by Officer Edward Demers and Officer Steven Binette.
